R&N - 02/03/08 - Gospel Sunday!

AND THE GRAMMY GOES TO!!!!!!

Praise the Lord on this Gospel Sunday! In light of all the events going on for the Super bowl, we can't just shut down news about the kingdom for a simple game can we? Even though the game isn't THAT simple.lol Anywho, the Grammys are right around the corner...if the strikers say the same. But in my opinion, the nominees are the same ole same ole. But I must admit their are a few suprises.

The Clark Sisters pic up 3 nods for Best Gospel Song, Best Gospel Performance, and Best Traditional Gospel Album for Live. Not bad Ladies! I like that Song Blessed and Highly Favored too. Israel and New Breed picked up a couple nods, CeCe picked up a nod, and check this ya'll. Mandisa from American Idol picked up a Best Contemporary Gospel Grammy nomination for True Beauty? Yeah...I didn't know either. But I don't even think thats the most suprising thing. There were no nominations for Yolonda, Donnie, or Kirk this year!!!! Can you believe it? I don't know if it were just me but it seem like they, especially Yo Adams, could pop out a song from nowhere and get nominated without anyone ever HEARING the song. I'm just sayin.lol I'm more looking forward to next years nominations. But it should be interesting.

Da T.R.U.T.H. is trying to garner his 2nd Grammy win this year. Don't let the suit and smile fool you. He definitely lives up to his name on his LP Open Book. Other nominees as follows:

Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album

Before The Daylight's Shot--Ashley Cleveland[204 Records]

HIStory: Our Place In His StoryThe Cross Movement[Cross Movement Records]
Open BookDa' T.R.U.T.H.[Cross Movement Records]
The ReckoningPillar[Flicker Records]
ComatoseSkillet[Atlantic/Lava/Ardent/INO]

Lastly, did you know there was a R&B Gospel Category? Isn't that.....an oxymoron?lol I'm just sayin.lol

What up world? It's almost that time again. That's right the Grammys are vastly approaching, scheduled to broadcast February 8 2009. We've GOT to do better. Anyway, take a look at the rest of the Gospel list below. For the entire list check it here.

D-Town's Finest Gospel Crooner ~ MR. Ryan Leslie - I mean Ryan Brockington, lol!
Now some of you may be wondering, "Who is Ryan Brockington?" Give it time, and the world will come to know and love the musical workings of this young vessel. Ryan is a Psalmist/songwriter who was born and raised in Denton, Texas and still resides within the DFW Metroplex. Shaping his craft since he was 10 Ryan has been able to learn from seasoned musicians who are stationed in and around the DFW area. He is a former member of the awesome gospel group, Titus Glenn and United Voices, which recorded "After the Heart of You" the groups freshmen album. While with Titus Glenn and United Voices he was blessed to minister with the likes of Stellar and Grammy Award Winner's Myron Butler and Levi, Tamela Mann, George Huff and many others. Mr. Brockington was also privileged to be apart of one of the most highly anticipated events to ever hit the Dallas metro plex ,Dr.juanita Bynum’s "gospel goes classical" which featured the Dallas symphony orchestra as well as Myron Williams.Personally Mr. Brockington has shared the stage with Tim Clifton W/ Purpose, Dana Hemphill, Eric Bridine and The Messengers among many others. Most recently in Summer of 2008 Ryan was privileged to work with Gospel great Tommye Young-West on her newest offering “Created to Worship.” Mr Brockington’s poignant background vocals can be noted on tracks like Created to Worship, Deliverance and Why Did He Do It, among various others. Ryan has his hands in several projects right now , at the focus of which is the expansion of his own personal ministry. Look for some new music from Ryan Brockington in the upcoming year of 2009. This young man truly has something to say. .. Whoa COME on SOMBodIE!!!

Wanna see for yourself....no problem

R&N - 2/24/08 - GOSPEL SUNDAY!!!

STRONGER MUSIC!!!!

Good Evenin' once again on this Gospel Sunday. I promise I'll start a bit sooner from now on but the Lord does keep us busy. But let's get right too it.

We doin a strong line up today. Myron Butler & Levi is killin it with Stronger. If you go to church or not.....respect the music! You can't deny it's hottness! Oh, listen to the ministry, but don't turn ya dial just BECAUSE its gospel. The beat should keep you as soon as it drops. I'm just sayin.

Sometimes I can't even tell if they're using tracks. Just sick. = )

DANG!!! I GOTTA DO IT!

I gotta do this but....Karen...I'm not feelin this one.lol Please don't get me wrong, Karen Clark Sheard is the voice but I must admit I've never been too keen on J. Moss doin anyones BGV's (Background vocals). I'm just sayin. I love their music but I'd have to say this one is a miss. Luv you Karen!!!!!!!

BE BLESSED

BUT!!!! Since I can't let her go out like that, I'll bless you guys with one of her better moments. You're welcome.lol Praise the Lord for this photo too. = ) Good job Karen.

OKAY J!!!!

I'M NOT PERFECT

AND... I mean that in a good way.lol I'm feelin this joint. However I will say that I don't know how I feel about the duo with Anthony Hamilton. It just......don't......curl all the way over for me. I'm just sayin. Still not feelin the BGV's but dude can write and yeah he can sing. =1 Gotta luv it. He killed this with Karen though...

I'm mad at that note on 5:17 on the video.lol Just sayin....

AND THE REIGN BEGINS....

In huge recent week for gospel music, Tye Tribbett & G.A.'s latest release Stand Out takes the coveted top spot on Billboard's Top Gospel Charts. The album is also #1 on Billboard's Top Christian & Gospel Albums charts and #16 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts, marking gospel's best debut charting performance for the 2008 release year. I heard him say " Ya Mamma" Kirk. lol
I'm playin. Thats how mess gets started. But back to the facts.

Marvin Sapp's Thirsty takes the week's #2 position, followed by WOW Gospel 2008 at #3. CeCe Winans' LP Thy Kingdom Come takes the #4 spot, while The Fight of My Life from Kirk Franklin rounds out the week’s top 5.In the world of radio, Marvin Sapp's Never Would Have Made It spends its 33rd week at the top of the charts. The Clark Sisters' Livin' maintains the #2 position, while Clark Sister member Dorinda Clark-Cole takes the #3 position with "Take It Back". Troy Sneed and the Bonafide Praisers sit at #4 with Work It Out, while The Light from Ricky Dillard and New G close out the top five positions.

That's the round up in the gospel world. Let's keep supporting the saints in their efforts and lifting the kingdom up in ministry.
