Chris Brown Sentencing

Chris Brown & Rihanna - More Info Revealed

According to reports, the famous Rihanna and Chris Brown altercation wasn't their first one. Court documents reveal that they've had two earlier episodes before the infamous Grammy night. About three months prior to that, Rihanna slapped Brown in Europe during an argument. In that battle, Chris shoved her into a wall.

The other fight took place three weeks prior to Grammy night. They were visiting Barbados and were driving in a Range Rover. They had an argument in the car. Chris left and broke the front driver and passenger side windows of the car.

Chris Brown was formally sentenced Tuesday to six months of community labor, five years probation, and was ordered not to contact Rihanna for the next five years.
Ouch.... Well, at least it's over with. Hopefully, they'll be able to move on from this incident and come back stronger...

R&N - 02/09/09 - Grammy's Last night

So, how bout them Grammy's, eh?

U2 opened the show. Whitney Houston, who I have not seen in ages, came out and introduced the nominees for Best RnB singer. Jennifer Hudson won that.

Soon after came Justin Timberlake and Al Green with the 70s hit "Let's Stay Together." That was sweet.

Taylor Swift and Miley's highly anticipated duet was Tay's "Fifteen" off her "Fearless" album. Honestly, I felt personally attacked watching this: Miley & Taylor, being both ex-girlfriends of Nick & Joe Jonas, singing these lyrics. The lyrics "Cause when you’re fifteen / and somebody tells you they love you/ You're gonna believe them." It had to be that song because..? hmm. Looks like someone is still NOT over their exes.

On the other side of that, I was thoroughly impressed and dazzled when the Jonas Brothers took the stage with none other than Nick Jonas's idol Stevie Wonder! He joined them for a shortened version of the JB hit "Burnin' Up." Then the music changed to that familiar intro beat of Stevie Wonder's Superstition." The Jonas Brothers have been doing a cover of that song in their acoustic shows in California late last year and most recently, Nashville, TN in January. Last night was utterly beautifully done. You may not have won a Grammy, but it's ok. It was a 'cursed' category anyway.

MIA's performance was highly awkward, with the mesh outfit and the fact that she looked like her water could have broken at any moment all over the stage. I'm not hating on the song, though.

more on this later.

R&N - 02/03/08 - Gospel Sunday!

AND THE GRAMMY GOES TO!!!!!!

Praise the Lord on this Gospel Sunday! In light of all the events going on for the Super bowl, we can't just shut down news about the kingdom for a simple game can we? Even though the game isn't THAT simple.lol Anywho, the Grammys are right around the corner...if the strikers say the same. But in my opinion, the nominees are the same ole same ole. But I must admit their are a few suprises.

The Clark Sisters pic up 3 nods for Best Gospel Song, Best Gospel Performance, and Best Traditional Gospel Album for Live. Not bad Ladies! I like that Song Blessed and Highly Favored too. Israel and New Breed picked up a couple nods, CeCe picked up a nod, and check this ya'll. Mandisa from American Idol picked up a Best Contemporary Gospel Grammy nomination for True Beauty? Yeah...I didn't know either. But I don't even think thats the most suprising thing. There were no nominations for Yolonda, Donnie, or Kirk this year!!!! Can you believe it? I don't know if it were just me but it seem like they, especially Yo Adams, could pop out a song from nowhere and get nominated without anyone ever HEARING the song. I'm just sayin.lol I'm more looking forward to next years nominations. But it should be interesting.

Da T.R.U.T.H. is trying to garner his 2nd Grammy win this year. Don't let the suit and smile fool you. He definitely lives up to his name on his LP Open Book. Other nominees as follows:

Best Rock Or Rap Gospel Album

Before The Daylight's Shot--Ashley Cleveland[204 Records]

HIStory: Our Place In His StoryThe Cross Movement[Cross Movement Records]
Open BookDa' T.R.U.T.H.[Cross Movement Records]
The ReckoningPillar[Flicker Records]
ComatoseSkillet[Atlantic/Lava/Ardent/INO]

Lastly, did you know there was a R&B Gospel Category? Isn't that.....an oxymoron?lol I'm just sayin.lol

R&N- 12/07/07 - EXCLUSIVES

MF 3.0's tribute to Pimp C

The pimp is finally free! Hope yall been 'bumping your UGK tracks this week. Lil Flip has done a tribute song to him that I'm let yall hear. Oh and don't believe the rumors, nothing has been confirmed yet that Pimp C was found with prescription drugs, as of now his death was by natural concerns. UGK was also just nominated for two grammy awards on Thursday. Man. May he R.I.P.

Grammy Nominees...

Grammy nominated were announced yesterday and Kanye led the pack with EIGHT nominations. Kanye West's nominations dominate the rap field, with nominations for the Best Rap Album and double nominations in the Best Rap Song category - with both "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and "Good Life" vying for the award. Graduation is also in competition for Album of the Year. Other notable nominees were Jay Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake with 5, Akon with 4, Common and T.I. both with three, and Beyonce, 50, and Alicia Keys with two. The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out on February 10, 2008 at Los Angeles' Staples Center. For a full list of nominations visit grammy.com.

Jay-Z on his way out?

Jay-Z's 3-year contract is soon to expire and rumor has it Jay is demanding a steep pay increase. Sources close to the situation say that Jay-Z's demands are too high for what is reasonable in the industry today. They also say with him being in and out of retirement he is never in the office that long to demand such a pay. Another source also says L.A. Reid has no problem with Jay Z and that negotiations are very positive. Hmm, only time will tell.

Jaheim teams w/ Keisha Cole
Jaheim is showin' off his lungs with this track titled I've changed. Jahiem's new album "The Makings of a Man" drops December 18th.

Wyclef Jean is all about the C.R.E.A.M.

Wyclef who's album dropped this past Tuesday has remixed his "Sweetest Girl" joint and put Raekwon in the mix. The song is relatively the same but he flipped it and put it to Meth's - C.R.E.A.M beat. Peep the vid.

Enjoy the weekend people and VOTE. - Dilly
