R&N - 12/04/08 - Evening News Pt. 2

Recent Updates on Upcoming bands

Exactly a week ago, people in the United States, like me, celebrated Thanksgiving. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Now this Thanksgiving was very special for multiple reasons.

Long Island band, Push Play, made their first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performance. They announced this around March or so of this year on 1 of their live chats... & the day finally came. If you were watching CBS @ 10:25 ET/CT, you saw them appear on the HESS truck float. If you were watching NBC @ 10:45 ET/CT, you saw them appear on the HESS truck float AND sing their new song "Covergirl." I blogged about them in June. Congrats, guys!

While I'm talking about the Macy's parade, I'll mention a band I have not written about... yet. A group called Varsity Fanclub performed their hit single "Future Love" (available on iTunes) on another float in the parade. I quite loved it.

If you watched the Dallas football game, you would have seen Demi Lovato, who recently turned 16, sing the national anthem. What an honor for her! She grew up in the Dallas area, and her mother used to be a cheerleader for the Cowboys. That girl has a beautiful voice. You go, girl! Her debut album "Don't Forget" is amazing. She wrote songs and also co-wrote some with the Jonas Brothers. Buy it if you haven't already. Demi's next show will be at the Wiltern in Los Angeles @ 8pm.

Also, New Jersey band, Honor Society, traveled to the Texas Stadium to perform a free tail gate show, including Meet & Greets. Michael, Alex, Andrew, & Jason recently did 3 shows on the west coast, opening for their friends, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. "Don't Close the Book" turned into a duet with the Jonas Brothers that amazed everyone. The gentlemen of Honor Society are nominated 2x on musiqtone.com's Musiqwards. So use all your votes & help them win "Indie Artist of the Year" & "Indie Song of the Year" for "See U in the Dark." If you're already friends with them on myspace, be sure to add your local street teams. It helps a lot. Read more about them in my June article.

I LOVE this lady's voice! I have not seen her in person, but I saw a video of her singing online and all I can say is WOW, what a blessing she is!
